The Receipt That Ate Tuesday

The reclaimed minute has barely settled when every calendar flips from Monday to Wednesday. Tuesday has been erased, yet everyone still remembers what they planned to do.

SAMURAI: They kept the receipt.

FLANNEL TIGER: I had a day off!

SAMURAI: You were going to prank me for twelve hours.

Panel-by-panel storyboard

Municipal Time Services

A moving city hall descends from the Archi-Collective's distant city-hand. Its clerk is a monstrous origami accordion of calendars, with stapler-crab feet and an hourglass throat.

DAY BROKER: CIVIL TIME IS SUBJECT TO LIEN.

SAMURAI: This is not in the maintenance contract.

FLANNEL TIGER: I CAN FIX PAPERWORK.

SAMURAI: You've never fixed paperwork.

Panel-by-panel storyboard

FLANNEL TIGER: I CAN FIX PAPERWORK.

SAMURAI: You've never fixed paperwork.

The Day Off That Never Was

The Broker offers to sell Tuesday back. Each panel shows a small life being removed: a rooftop mural, a birthday, a lunch break, a call home. Samurai realizes the missing day matters because of ordinary people.

CHILD: I FINISHED THAT YESTERDAY!

SAMURAI: That's not a spare day. That's somebody's life.

FLANNEL TIGER: Okay. No jokes for one minute.

SAMURAI: Let's make it count.

Panel-by-panel storyboard

PANEL 1

Nine miniature windows of different neighborhoods, each missing one Tuesday event: mural, food truck, wedding, school play, rooftop sunset, delivery, bus ride, hospital visit, beach prank.

EVERY DAY IS MADE OF SMALL THINGS.

PANEL 4

Flannel Tiger gently uncurls the child's paper mural fragment with one claw.

FLANNEL TIGER: Okay. No jokes for one minute.

SAMURAI: Let's make it count.

PAGE 04 / 08

The Illegal Lunch Break

Samurai locates a civic-time distribution server under the moving city hall. The two keys open the maintenance hatch, but the Broker has made the missing second a mandatory digital signature.

SAMURAI: If it needs a signature, it needs a witness.

DAY BROKER: YOUR WORK BREAK IS NOT BILLABLE.

SAMURAI: Good. Then you can't own it.

FLANNEL TIGER: I'M GONNA NEED A BIGGER SECOND.

Panel-by-panel storyboard

PAGE 05 / 08

Vesper's Counter-Calendar

Vesper Voltage transmits from The Crater through the glowing convoy. A civil day isn't a single clock tick; it is an agreement among people and clocks. The Broker can forge the central ledger, but not the independent memories of everyone who lived Tuesday.

VESPER: Your problem isn't time. It's who gets to write the date.

SAMURAI: We don't need a perfect clock.

VESPER: We need everyone to remember the same Tuesday.

FLANNEL TIGER: So my hobby is now a public service?

SAMURAI: Unfortunately.

Panel-by-panel storyboard

PANEL 1

Bioluminescent goth jellyfish DJ Vesper Voltage appears as a hologram between neon-pink convoy drones, spinning two tiny calendar discs.

VESPER: Your problem isn't time. It's who gets to write the date.

PANEL 2

Close on dozens of mismatched street clocks, each reflected in one floating water bead. The old server fan pulses at the center.

A MILLION CLOCKS. A MILLION WITNESSES.

PANEL 3

Samurai connects his utility van's PA speaker to the stereo; Vesper sends a staggered counter-rhythm through the convoy.

SAMURAI: We don't need a perfect clock.

VESPER: We need everyone to remember the same Tuesday.

PANEL 4

Flannel Tiger lifts his garden hose with solemn purpose.

FLANNEL TIGER: So my hobby is now a public service?

SAMURAI: Unfortunately.

PAGE 06 / 08

Wet Signatures

Flannel Tiger sprays the city hall. Water droplets carry reflections of independent witnesses into the Broker's ink, turning its forged signature into a million incompatible ones. Samurai attacks the binding mechanism with his smoking chainsaw.

FLANNEL TIGER: SIGN HERE, EVERYBODY!

SAMURAI: Sorry. Unauthorized stapling.

DAY BROKER: CONTRADICTION DETECTED. CIVIC TIME UNCOLLECTIBLE.

Panel-by-panel storyboard

WITNESSES: TOO MANY TO FORECLOSE.

PANEL 3

Samurai's vintage yellow McCulloch chainsaw roars, slicing a huge paper seal while the Broker's stapler-crab feet grab at him.

SAMURAI: Sorry. Unauthorized stapling.

PANEL 4

The Broker folds itself into a furious spiral of date stamps and torn ledgers.

PAGE 07 / 08

Tuesday Returns

The whole stolen Tuesday bursts from the ledger as a luminous river of tiny memories. A city-sized calendar unrolls across the sky, and people regain the day they lived. Samurai's gold head reflects all nine captive worlds for a heartbeat.

CHILD: I KNEW I DID THAT!

FLANNEL TIGER: TUESDAY IS BACK, BABY!

SAMURAI: And somebody's still keeping the books.

PAGE 08 / 08

The One-Second Receipt

Tuesday returns, but the withheld second remains a master key. The Day Broker collapses into a single brass staple. Far beyond the Moon, the city-hand stamps the first of nine worlds PAID IN FULL. Samurai pockets the staple and starts the van.

FLANNEL TIGER: Can we finally go home?

SAMURAI: I need an itemized invoice.

SAMURAI: I am absolutely charging overtime.

Panel-by-panel storyboard

PANEL 1

Street-level aftermath: clocks agree again, civilians reclaim their errands, and the white utility van is parked illegally beside a coffee stand.

TUESDAY RESTORED. ONE SECOND STILL MISSING.

PANEL 2

Across space, the Archi-Collective city-hand turns a cosmic ledger page; one of nine captive planets flashes PAID IN FULL.

THE DEBT WAS NEVER ABOUT EARTH ALONE.

PANEL 4

Final panoramic panel: an impossible doorway opens behind the Sun, its interior shaped like a breathing mechanical heart.

NEXT ISSUE #008 — THE HEART OF THE BILL.

SAMURAI: I am absolutely charging overtime.
