2026-11-05 17:00 EST — Fresh stress regime; NET/TEAM earnings split versus ZS mean-reversion watchlist; MCHP beat does not settle guide risk
Final research report. Research slot: Thursday November 5, 2026, 5 PM EST (America/New_York). Market/API evidence captured approximately 5:04–5:09 PM EST; TEAM prior guidance independently verified during finalization. Later publication does not refresh those price observations. Screening/research, not investment advice. No rule is implemented by this report.
Actionable for today's regular-session execution: NO. The regular session is over. This is an overnight/Friday-open gap-risk and data-quality review, not an after-hours trade recommendation. Short momentum remains suspended; neither a fresh short nor an automatic opposite-side fade is validated.
1. Incremental focus, not a repeat of the 4 PM report
The 4 PM report covered COP/DUK/SO and the remaining AMC/BMO calendar using an 8:58 AM EST run. The 3 PM report established MCHP/NET/TEAM's pre-print risks. This hour has new actual releases and a new postclose run:
- Current candidate: ZS mean-reversion fade-long, with NET–ZS 60-day rho 0.76. NET's strong Q3 release and initial upward AH repricing conflict with TEAM's slower forward growth versus its reported quarter (despite raised FY guidance) and downward AH reaction. Is an issuer-specific positive catalyst sufficient evidence for a peer long in a fresh market-wide stress regime? Not established.
- NET and TEAM are not interchangeable software prints. Network/developer/security demand and collaboration/cloud migration have different drivers; correlation is exposure context, not proof of economic transmission.
- MCHP is now a suspended-short watchlist name, not a live entry. Its positive reported quarter coexists with sequentially lower guidance, nonrecurring sales and a negative early AH indication.
- Freshness priority: latest now says stress; the separate regime/macro/scorecard/correlation endpoints still describe November 4. Do not merge these clocks into a fictitious current consensus.
2. Live TRAI evidence and clock audit
All six read-only API requests returned HTTP 200 at approximately 5:04 PM EST on November 5. Raw JSON retained in the local research archive; linked endpoints are mutable, not immutable historical snapshots. Source links: latest, scorecard, events, correlations, regime, macro.
| Dataset | Verified clock / current facts | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| latest | November 5 postclose; generated 4:49:57 PM EST, marketSessionDate November 5; freshness checked, 0 stale, vixFresh true | Supersedes preceding hour's November 4-session buckets |
| latest.regime | stress; VIX 28.18, VIX9D 32.66, VVIX 134.99, VIX9D/VIX 1.159, VIX/VIX3M 1.103; riskPerTradePct 0.125 | Current run settings, not a new sizing proposal; not an intraday timestamp for when stress first appeared |
| latest indices | SPY 733.00 / −4.41%; QQQ 647.05 / −6.49%; SMH 447.73 / −11.21% | Cash-session context, not overnight quotes |
| latest buckets | LM 0; SM 35 (suspended); MR 8 | APP/NEE/QCOM must not be carried forward as current LM merely because earlier research listed them |
| MR candidates | HON, TMO, BLK, AMGN, ZS, COIN, BAC, MSTR | Signal-day watchlist, not an executable Friday order |
| events | asOf November 5; generated 7:38:46 AM EST | Calendar and historical gaps; tonight's releases/reactions not appended yet |
| correlations | asOf November 4; generated 5:34:39 PM EST November 4; 60d | Prior-session matrix, not today's realized co-movement |
| standalone regime | asOf November 4; generated 5:34:36 PM EST November 4; composite risk-on, VIX-label transitional | Stale for today's close; also a different composite definition from latest.regime |
| macro | asOf November 4; generated 5:35:13 PM EST November 4; FRED DGS10 timeout and Treasury/Yahoo fallbacks | Do not present its curve/credit readings as new 5 PM macro evidence |
| scorecard | asOf November 4; generated 5:34:47 PM EST November 4 | No claim of scored November 5 outcomes |
Scorecard constraint [TRAI above]: live-rule measurement has 148 scored picks over only 9 distinct days, mean net R −0.0620, per-day mean −0.0532, day-bootstrap 90% CI [−0.1378, +0.0265]; enoughDays false. MR mean R +0.0032, only 8 distinct days: not validated edge. Live-rule scoring uses 10:00 AM EST entry, 1 ATR stop / 2 ATR target and 60-minute time stop; 146/148 exits are TIME. Do not substitute daily open-to-close proxy results for this rule set.
3. Cloudflare NET: growth acceleration and guidance raise, with margin/cash counter-evidence
Primary [V-P], issuer release November 5, 2026: Cloudflare Q3 results. Call 5 PM EST November 5; no transcript claims made here.
- Revenue $782.5M, +39% YoY; current RPO growth 37%. Non-GAAP EPS $0.38; GAAP loss/share $0.10.
- Non-GAAP operating income $137.1M / 17.5% margin versus 15.3% a year earlier.
- Q4 guidance: revenue $845–846M, non-GAAP operating income $156–157M, non-GAAP EPS $0.43.
- FY2026 guidance: revenue $2.963–2.964B, non-GAAP operating income $462–463M, non-GAAP EPS $1.35.
- Counter-evidence: non-GAAP gross margin 72.4% vs 75.3% YoY; GAAP operating loss $67.9M vs $37.5M; FCF $82.1M / 10% margin vs $75.0M / 13%. Higher absolute FCF does not mean expanding FCF margin.
Primary comparison [V-P]: August 6, 2026 Q2 release guided Q3 revenue $736–737M, EPS $0.34, and FY revenue $2.864–2.870B, EPS $1.25–1.26. Thus this is an actual beat of the company's old guide and an actual FY raise, without depending on a consensus vendor. [CALC] Q3 revenue is 6.25% above old guide midpoint ($782.5M / $736.5M − 1); FY midpoint increases $96.5M / 3.37% ($2,963.5M vs $2,867M).
Secondary [S-1], November 5: Investing.com reported an early >17% AH move and consensus revenue/EPS $736.8M/$0.34. AP via ABC10 search result gives $734.3M/$0.35; AP page not independently opened. Vendor disagreement is real; do not silently harmonize. Neither is needed for the primary company-guide comparison. The article's displayed publication time has no explicit zone in the retrieved text, so it is not treated as a synchronized price clock.
4. Atlassian TEAM: profitable beat and raised FY guide coexist with slower forward growth
Primary [V-P], issuer-distributed release November 5, 2026: Atlassian FQ1 FY27 via Business Wire. Call 5 PM EST November 5.
- Revenue $1.772B (+24% YoY); Cloud $1.302B (+31%); subscription ARR $6.812B (+23%); RPO $4.746B (+44%).
- GAAP net income $91M / $0.35 EPS; non-GAAP EPS $1.65; operating margins 11% GAAP / 32% non-GAAP. FCF $463M / 26% margin.
- Q2 total revenue target $1.825–1.835B; Cloud growth 27%, Data Center −14%, non-GAAP operating margin 26%.
- FY27 targets: subscription ARR growth 18.5%, total revenue growth 13.75%, Cloud 26%, Data Center −16%, non-GAAP operating margin 25.5%.
- Prior-guide question resolved [V-P]: the SEC-hosted August 6 Q4 FY26 issuer release, Exhibit 99.1 guided FY27 ARR growth 18.0%, total revenue growth 13.0%, Cloud 25.5%, Data Center −17.0%, and non-GAAP operating margin 25.0%. November's corresponding 18.5% / 13.75% / 26.0% / −16.0% / 25.5% are upward revisions, not a company guidance cut. [CALC] ARR +0.5 percentage point, revenue +0.75 point, Cloud +0.5 point, Data Center decline narrows 1 point, margin +0.5 point.
- Quarter versus outlook is a separate comparison: projected FY ARR growth is 4.5 percentage points below Q1's 23%, and Q2 Cloud growth 4 points below Q1's 31%. This deceleration comparison can coexist with an improved FY guide. The old Q1 revenue guide was $1.705–1.715B; actual $1.772B exceeds its midpoint by 3.63% [CALC]. Neither comparison proves why the stock sold off.
- ARR is an operational annualized subscription measure, not GAAP revenue; the issuer excludes one-time fees. Migration timing, acquisition-lapping effects and underlying seat/demand contributions are not independently decomposed here. The issuer's August 6 shareholder letter corroborates reported Cloud/ARR growth but does not resolve tonight's reaction attribution.
Secondary [S-1], November 5: Investing.com attributes an early ~16% selloff to weaker subscription outlook despite consensus beats. Correction: it rounds Q2 guidance to $1.83–1.84B / midpoint $1.835B; the opened issuer release says $1.825–1.835B / midpoint $1.830B. Use the primary range. Reaction attribution remains secondary, not a proven causal decomposition.
5. Microchip MCHP: reported strength, nonrepeat revenue and lower next-quarter margins
Primary [V-P], November 5, 2026, 4:15 PM EST: Microchip FQ2 FY27 results. Call 5 PM EST November 5.
- Net sales $1,621.5M (headline rounds $1.622B), +42.2% YoY / +9.2% sequential; prior company guide midpoint $1.604B.
- GAAP common EPS $0.68 versus previous guide $0.53–0.54; non-GAAP EPS $0.97 versus guide $0.91–0.95. Non-GAAP gross margin 66.5%, operating margin 39.5%.
- Management reports book-to-bill well above one, industrial/data-center strength, and 24 PCIe Gen6 switch/retimer design wins versus 12 at June quarter-end. These are management claims, not independent shipment/market-share checks.
- Q3 guidance: revenue $1.573–1.638B, non-GAAP EPS $0.87–0.95, gross margin 64–65%, operating margin 37–38.5%.
- Counter-evidence: management identifies approximately $53M of infrequent Q2 revenue that does not recur in Q3; Q3 revenue midpoint is about −1% sequential, EPS midpoint $0.91 vs $0.97. Do not extrapolate the Q2 headline growth mechanically.
- Management says adjusted for infrequent items its guide is better than normal seasonality. That is management framing, not independently established demand acceleration. No next-quarter consensus beat/miss asserted.
6. Cash versus AH: separate denominators, non-synchronized bars
Cash data: TRAI latest, November 5 4:49:57 PM EST postclose run. AH: public Yahoo chart 5-minute bars, retrieved approximately 5:05 PM EST November 5, possibly delayed/thin; last bar can be incomplete, is not an executable quote, and is not Friday's opening gap. Example NET source; replace NET with the ticker for each other row. Raw responses and calculation JSON retained in the local research archive.
| Name | Nov 5 cash close / cash day change | Last observed AH bar (EST) | Bar price | AH change vs Nov 5 cash close [CALC] |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NET | $244.51 / −8.28% | 5:05 PM | $279.50 | +14.31% |
| TEAM | $183.29 / −3.47% | 5:05 PM | $154.00 | −15.98% |
| MCHP | $64.85 / −13.92% | 5:05 PM | $61.75 | −4.78% |
| ZS | $203.88 / −9.16% | 5:04 PM | $202.80 | −0.53% |
| DDOG | $174.60 / −7.48% | 4:59 PM | $172.01 | −1.48% |
NET's issuer strength has not produced uniform positive repricing in ZS/DDOG in these sparse observations. This is useful counter-evidence to automatic positive peer inheritance, not evidence that no transmission can occur by Friday. NET's early >17% secondary headline and +14.31% later observed bar need not conflict: they are different clocks. Do not use Yahoo previousClose as today's cash-close denominator.
7. Candidate and peer risk for Friday, not a new trade tonight
- ZS MR fade-long: Nov 5 close $203.88, return −9.16%, relVol 1.11, z1d −2.23, residualZ −0.25, ATR $13.81, close below VWAP. Ordinary-volume raw-return extremity occurs in a market-wide shock; residual is much less extreme. Source: latest, Nov 5 postclose.
- Prior-session correlation evidence: NET–ZS 0.76, NET–DDOG 0.78, NET–CRWD 0.75, NET–PANW 0.74; TEAM–NOW 0.71, TEAM–CRM 0.69, TEAM–PLTR 0.61; MCHP–TXN 0.81, MCHP–ON 0.82. Source: correlations, asOf Nov 4. Business peer linkages remain hypotheses and can diverge under issuer-specific news.
- NET is not a current LM candidate despite the AH rally; MCHP has a suspended SM signal (residualZ −2.88, relVol 3.55); TEAM has no current bucket signal. Source: same current latest snapshot.
- Historical earnings base rates from events, asOf Nov 5 morning, n=4 each: NET avg absolute gap 11.58%, fill 0%; TEAM 13.71%, fill 50%; MCHP 5.70%, fill 25%, continuation 25%. These are descriptive samples of four prior regular opens, NOT AH prints or established typical reactions. Four-event averages/rates are fragile and do not justify chase/fade rules.
- Friday VST/MRNA BMO and the remaining ABNB/AFRM/DKNG/EOG/DVN releases remain prior-slot handoffs, not independently refreshed here. Do not imply all AMC calls have concluded at 5 PM EST.
8. Proposed tests only — deduplicated into existing research items
No new proposal IDs and no live engine changes. Extend S-132/S-139 (peer evidence), S-012/S-046/S-098 (residual versus raw stress reversion), and S-068/S-102/S-108 (freshness/availability). S-138 is the pre-print context, not a validated sign predictor.
- Split-catalyst peer stress test: flag a candidate's closest economic peers' actual released guidance, not sector sentiment alone. For ZS, record NET's positive revision, TEAM's negative forward-growth reaction and the candidate's own AH path separately. Compare to simple event proximity; do not force their signs into one scalar score.
- Raw-z versus residual-z in stress: for MR fade-longs with raw z < −2 but modest |residualZ|, compare 10:00 AM EST entry / 60-minute live-rule outcome versus idiosyncratic-residual MR, by regime and clustered day. Current ZS case illustrates the distinction, not an edge estimate.
- Postclose freshness provenance: require each evidence feature to retain source generation time and signal/decision availability. Do not backfill the 4:49 PM stress label into a 10 AM same-day entry; do not label last night's composite regime as today's close. This is an extension of existing data-quality research, not an implemented engine change.
Acceptance: timestamped source evidence, no look-ahead, trading-cost inclusion, day-level resampling, out-of-sample comparison, multiple-testing caution; live scorecard's <30-day sample remains insufficient. Neither negative MCHP AH nor TEAM's guide reaction reactivates short momentum.
9. Consultation availability and remaining unknowns
- Whiggity consultation unavailable: the complete research brief was submitted once in a fresh signed-in chat; Monica returned “Connection error, please check your network.” One built-in Retry produced the same error. No research reply exists, no points are attributed to whiggity, and no further retries were made. This was a site/network error, not an authentication failure. Findings and proposed tests above are independently assembled.
- Issuer releases underpin the reported figures; TEAM's prior FY targets were additionally verified in the SEC-hosted August 6 Exhibit 99.1. Exact current-quarter SEC exhibit cross-checks for NET/TEAM/MCHP remain unperformed. A finalization fetch of the current TEAM Business Wire release timed out; its figures above retain the earlier successful read's provenance rather than claiming a fresh second read.
- TEAM resolved versus unresolved: 18.5% ARR is an increase from the prior 18.0% guide. How much of the forward slowdown reflects Data Center sunset/migration versus underlying seat/demand weakness remains unquantified. No causal inference from the AH decline alone.
- NET call: gross-margin compression, capex/FCF margin, customer concentration, Workers usage versus security, large-customer/retention evidence. Distinguish CEO AI narrative from disclosed monetization.
- MCHP call: composition of $53M infrequent revenue, acquisition contribution, underlying bookings, inventory days/distributor sell-through, guide versus timestamped consensus. Beat alone does not explain AH direction.
- Refresh AH at a later fixed clock and Friday premarket; options-implied move and spreads not measured here. Sparse 5 PM bar closes do not prove liquid transmission.
- Independent macro explanation for today's risk-off move is unknown here. Fresh VIX/SPY observations establish stress, not a causal election/policy/energy narrative. Prior macro endpoint is stale.
