2026-10-30 10:00 ET: First 45 minutes: candidate follow-through vs opening range, the defensive bid broadening into telecom (TMUS/VZ/T/CMCSA) and pharma (LLY), the software split (app software up, consumption/security down), and a structural /api/events blind spot for AMC prints

Slot: Fri 2026-10-30 10:00 ET hourly research. Status: FINAL, ~10:10–10:45 ET. Research partner (whiggity) input in §10; quote refresh at ~10:23 ET in §12. Screening/research, not investment advice.
TRAI data used:

  • /api/latest = the same 8:53 AM premarket run as the 09:00 report (2026-10-29_premarket_2026-10-30T12-53-19-775Z; regime transitional, VIX 18.59, risk/trade 0.25%). No newer run.
  • /api/events (generated 2026-10-30 12:17 UTC). /api/correlations (60d to 2026-10-22, stale, S-068).

Intraday quotes: Yahoo chart API (1-min and 5-min regular-session bars), pulled ~10:13 ET, vs the 10-29 close. "OR30" = 9:30–10:00 opening range. Bars are unofficial and may be delayed (Yahoo chart API).
Previous slot: the 09:00 report covered BMO prints (REGN, ABBV, XOM, CVX), ECI, Chicago PMI, INTC→PC hardware, AMZN, and the Binance theft. This hour does not repeat those. It covers (1) how each candidate traded against its opening range, (2) groups that moved after the open and weren't covered (telecom, LLY, the software split, CSCO), (3) a correction to the 09:00 data-quality finding (S-079), and (4) the catalyst calendar for next week.

1. Focus and why

At 10:13 the tape is still a rotation: QQQ −2.87%, SPY −1.36%, DIA −0.60%. It is broadening, not reversing. TRAI's buckets have now had their first 30 minutes, so the 09:00 "only on OR confirmation/failure" calls can be checked. The groups moving most that hadn't been covered are telecom (cluster 10, all +3 to +6%), LLY (+4%), app software (ADBE/INTU/WDAY +2–3%) vs consumption/security software (NET/DDOG −8%), and CSCO (−4% from a flat open).

2. Candidate follow-through (~10:13 ET, vs 10-29 close)

Indices: SPY −1.36% (below OR30), QQQ −2.87% (inside), DIA −0.60% (below). Source: Yahoo 5-min bars, ~10:13 ET.

Notes:

  • MO opened +1.75% and fell below a +1.38% OR low, so the staples-bid support in the 09:00 report did not carry it. KO +1.66%, PEP +1.85%, PG +1.63% were also below their opens (Yahoo 1-min, PG −1.0% from open). The staples bid was mostly in the gap.
  • HD/LOW also opened at their highs and faded, with XHB −0.04% and ITB +0.39% (Yahoo). The 10y is still lower on the day (^TNX ~4.94% vs 4.989% prior close), but it did back up ~3bp off its 9:30 low (4.919% → 4.949% at 10:00, Yahoo 5-min) while HD fell from $334.20 to $328.88. So a partial rates reversal coincided with the fade; the gap fading is the simpler read, and the yield link is unproven (n = 1; see §10 item 4).

3. Telecom cluster bid (TMUS / VZ / T / CMCSA): a rebound after the SpaceX week, not a new catalyst

  • Move: TMUS +5.73% (above OR30 high, +1.6% vs VWAP), VZ +3.24%, T +3.08%, CMCSA +3.30%. All four are above their OR30 highs (Yahoo ~10:13). Cluster 10, avg ρ 0.717 (T–VZ 0.90, VZ–TMUS 0.88, T–TMUS 0.84) (TRAI /api/correlations).
  • No same-day company catalyst found. All four have already reported: T 10-21 BMO, CMCSA 10-22 BMO, VZ 10-26 BMO, TMUS 10-28 AMC (TRAI /api/events; AT&T IR; Comcast IR; Verizon, 2026-10-26; T-Mobile, 2026-10-28). Charter reports Nov 6, 7:00 AM ET, so it's not today (Charter, 2026-10-07).
  • Context:
  • The group was hit from 10-22 onward by reports that SpaceX wants access to ≥80,000 US cell sites for Starlink Mobile, targeting an early-2028 launch (telecom note).
  • On their calls, TMUS CEO Srini Gopalan ("I see no room for an MVNO with SpaceX") and VZ CEO Dan Schulman ($300–500B and 65–80k macro sites to build a competing network) pushed back on that (Mobile World Live, 2026-10-30). IBD (08:20 ET today) frames it as an ongoing standoff (IBD, 2026-10-30).
  • TMUS closed 10-29 at $147.29, down from $158.79 on 10-22 (MarketMinute history). A secondary source puts telecom −5.78% for the week through Thursday (Faircurve, 2026-10-30); not verified.
  • TMUS's own print (10-28 AMC):
  • Postpaid net account adds 274k; ARPA $155.73 (+4%).
  • FY26 postpaid ARPA growth raised to ~3.5% (from 2.5–3%); core adj. EBITDA $37.35–37.45B (+$100M at the midpoint); adj. FCF $18.7–18.8B (+$150M at the midpoint) (TMUS 8-K Ex. 99.2; Motley Fool transcript, 2026-10-29).
  • Reaction-day 10-29: open $150.58 (+1.7%), close $147.29 (−0.53%), i.e. it faded the whole gap. Today is day 2.
  • Why it matters for TRAI: the cluster's TRAI beta60 is negative (T −0.33, VZ −0.41, TMUS −0.66, as of 10-22). It is the cleanest "anti-semis" factor in the universe, which fits a Nasdaq −2.9% day. None of the four is a bucket candidate, and telecom–MO ρ is only ~0.31, so this doesn't confirm the MO long.
  • Typical reaction stats (TRAI /api/events, last 4): TMUS avg |gap| 4.37%, continuation 50%; VZ continuation 75%; T continuation 25%.

4. LLY: day 2 of a beat-and-raise, extending with healthcare

  • Print 10-29 BMO: revenue $24.4B (+39%) vs ~$22.5B; non-GAAP EPS $7.48. FY26 revenue guide raised to $91–92B (from $85–87B), the third raise this year. Mounjaro $10.7B (+65%), Zepbound $5.35B (+49%).
  • Analysts and peers: PT raises from BofA ($1,497), UBS ($1,625) and Truist ($1,612). Novo's print disappointed (CagriSema vs tirzepatide; Wegovy pill below estimates).
  • Sources: Investing.com, 2026-10-30 08:22; Lilly IR.
  • Today: +4.09% (inside OR30 +3.18…+5.53%) (Yahoo ~10:13). NVO +1.57%.
  • Linkage to a candidate: LLY–GILD ρ 0.44, same healthcare cluster 3 (GILD, BMY, LLY, JNJ, ABBV, VRTX, PFE, AMGN). Cluster 3 is up across the board (BMY +3.0%, VRTX +2.8%, MRK +2.4%, AMGN +2.0%, ABBV +1.8%), so the GILD fade-short is fighting both its own print and the whole cluster. ABBV was −0.4% premarket (09:00 report) but is +1.81%, +1.39% from its open.
  • TRAI reaction stats (LLY last 4): continuation 75%, fill 0%, avg day-1 in gap direction +2.42%. History favours continuation for LLY prints.

5. Software split: app software (cluster 6) bid, consumption/security (cluster 5) and CSCO sold

Cluster 6 (app)~10:13Cluster 5 (security/data) + others~10:13
INTU+3.40%NET−7.99%
ADBE+3.08%DDOG−7.62%
WDAY+2.10%SNOW (TRAI cluster 17)−7.64%
CRM+0.43%PLTR−4.18%

TEAM−3.62%CRWD / PANW−2.56% / −1.38%

IGV −2.14%; CSCO −4.10% (opened +0.17%) (Yahoo ~10:13).

  • Pattern: the same factor split seen on 10-22 (software note; 10-23 10:00 report). App software, which had been sold this year on fears that AI displaces seat-based software, holds up when the selling is about AI-capex/cash-burn (AMZN, GOOGL). In the TRAI matrix, cluster-6 names have negative ρ to the core-semis basket (INTU −0.41, ADBE −0.38).
  • Today's driver (sourced): AMZN's trailing-12-month FCF outflow of $42.4B, Q3 purchases of property & equipment of $77.3B (vs $58.7B FactSet est.; CFO: $75.9B cash capex), the 2026 cash-capex plan held at ~$220B on the Q3 call (it was raised from ~$200B to ~$220B on the Q2 call, 2026-07-30; see §10 item 1) (CNBC, 2026-10-29; DCD, 2026-07-31), and GOOGL's worst day in 20+ years on 10-29 (Yahoo Finance live, 2026-10-30; CNBC, 2026-10-30). This closes the 09:00 unknown on AMZN capex for 2026. For 2027, Jassy said Amazon expects to "spend meaningfully more" but gave no dollar figure (Business Insider, 2026-10-29). (Correction: an earlier draft line said "Q3 capex ~$77B vs ~$42B operating cash flow"; $42.4B is the TTM FCF outflow, not operating cash flow.)
  • No company-specific news found for ADBE/INTU/WDAY today. One aggregator calls ADBE's move "technical" (BestStocks), so treat it as a factor move.
  • Consumption names (NET/DDOG/SNOW): sold in sympathy with AMZN/TWLO (TWLO Q4 organic growth guide 11–12% vs 16% in Q3) (Investing.com, 2026-10-30). DDOG reports Wed 11-04 BMO and NET Thu 11-05 AMC (TRAI /api/events; avg |gap| 18.7% / 11.6%). Today's drop goes into prints with very large typical gaps.
  • CSCO: −4.1%, fading from a flat open, below OR30 (−1.57% vs VWAP). No new company news today was found. A Hold downgrade (10-19) and a Piper target cut to $125 are older (Seeking Alpha; Tickeron). CSCO–ANET ρ 0.61; ANET −7.6%. Likely AI-networking sympathy (unverified). Next print 11-12.
  • CRM linkage: CRM–ADBE 0.67, CRM–INTU 0.51, CRM–WDAY 0.44, but CRM–NET only 0.29, CRM–DDOG 0.27. The software that is being sold is the cluster CRM is least tied to. This weakens the 09:00 worry that consumption-software weakness would drag the CRM fade-long. CRM's real risk is NOW (ρ 0.75, −1.3%). Still no trigger: it's inside OR30.

6. Macro and cross-asset (10:00–10:15)

  • Today's releases: Q3 ECI (8:30 ET) +0.8% q/q, +3.4% y/y, wages +0.7% q/q, in line with expectations (BLS; Reuters via Investing.com, 2026-10-30); Chicago PMI 55.3 (9:45). September PCE/personal income came out Thu 10-29 (PCE 3.6% y/y, core 3.1%) (BEA), not today.
  • No 10:00 ET US release today. Yahoo's daily calendar lists only ECI and Chicago PMI (Yahoo live, 2026-10-30). UMich's October final was Oct 23; next is the November prelim on Nov 6 (UMich release dates).
  • Chicago PMI consensus conflict. Yahoo's calendar shows 54.6 expected; the 09:00 report used 56.1 (WealthBranch). Against Yahoo's figure, 55.3 is a small beat, not a miss. Either way it's within about 1 point. Read: neutral, not a market mover.
  • Oil: Brent ~$113, WTI ~$104. Per Bloomberg via Yahoo, the US may resume strikes on Iran after next week's midterms. Brent is +12% in October. Energy is the third bid group (XLE +1.95%, XOM +2.67%, PSX +3.36%).
  • Rates/FX: Treasuries are rallying on the AI-selling "flight to safety". The BOJ held at 1.25% (Reuters via Yahoo live). ^TNX ~4.93%.
  • Crypto: Binance says ~$6.3B impact, ~$3B frozen on-chain, all losses covered; TRM/Elliptic link the theft to North Korea (Yahoo live). COIN has extended to −12.6% (−5.3% from its open); BTC −1.5% since 00:00 UTC. CVNA (−2.06%) is still not trading like crypto (S-080).
  • Smartphones: Q3 global shipments −20% y/y (Counterpoint), −22% (IDC prelim), the weakest Q3 since 2012, due to memory shortages (Counterpoint; Mobile World Live). This links to INTC's PC warning and to AAPL Mon 11-02 AMC (call 5:00 PM ET, Apple IR) and QCOM/ARM (11-04 AMC).

7. Data quality: /api/events has a structural blind spot for AMC prints (corrects/extends S-079)

  • The 09:00 report called GILD's missing 10-29 print the "4th miss this week". Checking all tickers at 12:17 UTC shows it is not random. Every 10-29 AMC reporter in the universe is missing:
  • INTC, AMZN, RBLX, PINS, MSTR, COIN, SBUX, RIVN, MDLZ, GILD all show their last event in Jul/Aug.
  • Each has next either null or rolled to the next quarter (INTC 2027-01-28, SBUX 2027-01-27).
  • Meanwhile 10-28 AMC reporters (CVNA, CMG, NOW, MSFT, GOOGL, F) are now recorded, with reaction date 10-29. 10-29 BMO reporters (MO, DASH, LLY, MRK, BMY) are recorded too.
  • Mechanism (from lib/research/events.ts):
  • A historical event is only written once its reaction-day bar exists.
  • next is only "upcoming" if nextDate >= today (line 97), and Yahoo's calendar may already have rolled forward.
  • So from the AMC print until the reaction-day close, the print is in neither next nor history. That is exactly the window the 8:53 premarket run uses.
  • The NOW/CVNA/CMG "misses" in the 17:00 and 09:00 reports were the same blind spot, not calendar-source errors.
  • Proposed fix (S-079 revision, proposal only, not built): treat nextDate === previous trading day && timing === 'AMC' (or a last-known report date inside that window) as "reacting today" (sessionsToReaction 0, gapRisk imminent). Also cache the last-seen next per ticker so a roll-forward can't erase it.

8. Next week's catalyst calendar for the universe (TRAI /api/events; spot-checked)

  • Mon 11-02 AMC: AAPL (verified, Apple IR), PLTR, ON, VRTX.
  • Tue 11-03: SHOP, PFE, MPC, ETN BMO; AMD, SMCI, ANET, BKNG, AMGN AMC.
  • Wed 11-04: DDOG, UBER, MCD, KHC, CVS, NVO, RIOT BMO; QCOM, ARM, APP, SNAP AMC.
  • Thu 11-05: COP, DUK, SO BMO; NET, TEAM, ABNB, MCHP, AFRM AMC.
  • Fri 11-06: MRNA, VST BMO; CHTR 7:00 AM (verified; not in universe); UMich Nov prelim (09:00 report).
  • Not verified here: the BLS payrolls date and the US midterms' market timing. The Yahoo/Bloomberg piece mentions "midterm elections next week". Treat Iran-strike headlines as an oil/energy gap-risk factor over the weekend.

9. Analysis and calls

  1. The 09:00 conditional calls resolved mostly as written. HD/LOW met the "short only on OR failure" condition (both below OR30, below VWAP). GE is working. The long_momentum bucket split: CVNA and MO failed their ORs; BA broke above; CMG/DASH are inside. GILD is still against the short.
  2. MO's failure is informative. A defensive name in a defensive tape still failed its OR because the gap (+1.75%) took the whole move. This fits the S-066/S-072 point that long_momentum on an earnings-reaction day is weak (n 48, −0.56%/trade). MO is on day 2 after its 10-29 BMO print.
  3. The defensive bid is broadening. Telecom, pharma and energy are joining staples and utilities, while semis, consumption software and crypto extend lower. The funded side (S-076) now includes telecom. No telecom name is a candidate, so this is context only.
  4. The CRM fade-long is less exposed than feared. The software being sold (cluster 5 / consumption) is weakly linked to CRM. The relevant peers (cluster 6) are up. Still, take it only on an OR30 high break (+1.26%).

ACTIONABLE (for the rest of today, Fri 10-30): YES, intraday. These are research reads, not orders.

  • HD/LOW fade-short: the OR-failure condition from 09:00 has triggered. If taken, it's one position (S-078), stop above the OR30 high. The 10y is still falling, which works against the short over a longer horizon.
  • CVNA and MO longs: both are below their OR30 lows and VWAP, so the momentum entry condition is not met. Stand aside unless they reclaim the OR. BA was the only long_momentum name above its OR high at 10:13, but it slipped back inside its OR by ~10:23 (§12). So no long currently meets the momentum entry.
  • GILD fade-short: still skip. Its cluster (healthcare cluster 3, LLY/BMY/VRTX +2.8–4%) is bid, on top of its own print.
  • Weekend/Monday gap risk for anything held: AAPL Mon AMC (smartphone −20% y/y backdrop), Iran-strike oil headlines. TRAI is intraday, so this only matters for carried positions.

Strategy proposals (see [strategy.md](../strategy.md)):

  • S-079 (revised): the AMC blind spot fix in §7.
  • S-082: at 10:00, re-check each candidate against its OR30 and VWAP and drop long_momentum names that are below both.
  • S-083 (NEEDS DATA): whether gap-and-fade on defensive day-2 names (MO, TMUS on 10-29) is systematic.

10. Research partner (whiggity) input

_Source: whiggity (Kieran's Monica custom bot, treated as a second researcher), reply ~10:20 ET in this conversation. Every point below is from whiggity. A point is kept as a finding only where I verified it against a cited public source or TRAI/Yahoo data (~10:20–10:45 ET); everything else is an open question. Not independently authoritative._

1. whiggity: "AMZN raised 2026 capex from ~$200B to $220B (not 'kept')"; cites [Intellectia, 2026-02-06](https://intellectia.ai/blog/amazon-200b-capex-ai-infrastructure-2026). Partly right, wrong on timing.

  • Finding: the ~$200B plan dates from the February (Q4-2025) call, which is all whiggity's Intellectia link covers. Amazon raised it to "approximately $220 billion in cash capex" on the Q2 call (2026-07-30), citing memory costs (DCD, 2026-07-31). On the Q3 call (10-29) it held $220B (CNBC, 2026-10-29: "held its 2026 capital expenditure forecast at $220 billion"; Business Insider: "reiterated"). So §5's "kept at $220B" is correct for this print and stays. I added the July raise for context and fixed a separate error in §5 (the $42B is TTM FCF, not operating cash flow).
  • Finding: AWS is capacity-constrained. Jassy in July: at $220B "we will still not have enough capacity to meet all the demand we have in 2026", and the same for 2027 (DCD). In October, BI reported racks arriving before sites are ready because of power and construction delays (BI, above).
  • Finding: consumption software is being hit harder than seat-based software today (§5, §12: DDOG −10.1%, NET −9.0%, MDB −8.6%, SNOW −8.4% vs CRM −0.2%, ADBE +2.2%, INTU +2.4% at ~10:23).
  • Open question (whiggity's causal link): is the consumption-vs-seat split caused by AWS capacity limits capping consumption growth? No source makes that link. TWLO's guide and AI-capex/FCF worries are the sourced drivers (§5). CFLT is not tradable: IBM completed its acquisition on 2026-03-17 (Confluent).

2. whiggity: "GILD reported Q3 Thu 10-29 after close; its FT link is dated Oct 15 (the date announcement only)." Verified: the print. Mostly idiosyncratic, with a sector tailwind.

  • Finding: GILD reported 10-29 AMC. Adj. EPS $2.55 vs ~$2.17; revenue $8.3B (+13%) vs ~$7.79B; FY26 product-sales guide raised to $31.0–31.3B; HIV +18% (Biktarvy $4.1B). The stock was +2.9% after hours ($170.40) on 10-29, a session in which the S&P fell 0.6% (Gilead IR; Investing.com, 2026-10-29 17:40). Offsets in the headlines: a Medicare Biktarvy price cut of 38% from 2028, and a wider GAAP-loss guide from acquisition charges (Seeking Alpha headline).
  • Finding (Yahoo, ~10:23 ET): GILD +4.20% vs XLV +1.10% (+3.1pp), IBB +0.09%, and the cluster-3 peers ex-LLY (BMY, VRTX, AMGN, ABBV, JNJ, PFE, MRK) averaging +1.75% (+2.45pp excess). Only LLY (+4.12%, its own day-2 beat-and-raise) matches it.
  • Read: about 1.5–2pp of today's move looks like sector beta. The rest, and the whole after-hours move, is the print. This supports S-077 (skip the fade-short). The draft §7's finding that /api/events missed this print stands. whiggity's FT link isn't used: it only covers the Oct 15 date announcement.

3. whiggity: "SpaceX agreed in Oct 2026 to acquire a nationwide low-band spectrum portfolio; today's move = short-covering + factor rotation + month-end rebalancing." No link given. Deal verified; today's causal story is open.

  • Finding: on 2026-10-08, Grain Management agreed to sell SpaceX 100% of its nationwide 800 MHz (low-band) spectrum portfolio for Starlink Mobile D2D. The deal still needs FCC approval. Grain had bought that portfolio from T-Mobile in Aug 2026 (Grain, 2026-10-08). That's an earlier leg of the October telecom selloff than the 10-22 cell-site story §3 used. Added to the telecom note.
  • Finding: Oct 30 is October's last trading day (Oct 31 is a Saturday).
  • Finding (factor rotation): the cluster has negative beta60 and a ~2.3pp DIA−QQQ spread at 10:23. This is consistent with §3's "anti-semis rebound", but consistency isn't proof.
  • Open: short-covering. I have no short-interest or positioning data for today, so this can't be verified. Not every telecom-flavoured name is bid: IYZ is −2.84%, but it is weighted to CSCO/networking, which is −4.2%. Only the carriers and towers are up (AMT +1.4%, CCI +0.7%).
  • Open: month-end rebalancing as a cause. Plausible, but no source.
  • I found no same-day telecom catalyst. A VZ upgrade (Freedom Broker, Buy, PT $55) was Thursday's news (Defense World/MarketBeat, 2026-10-30).

4. whiggity: "8:30 ET PCE/personal income/Q3 ECI and 10:00 UMich final matter more than Chicago PMI; the HD/LOW fade is a yields reaction." Mostly wrong on the calendar; the causal claim is unproven.

  • Finding: whiggity's calendar is wrong. PCE/personal income came out Thu 10-29, not today: PCE +0.5% m/m, 3.6% y/y; core +0.3% m/m, 3.1% y/y; personal income +0.2% (BEA). UMich's October final was Oct 23; the next UMich release is Nov 6 (UMich release dates). This is the third time whiggity has said "UMich final today" (17:00 and 09:00 reports §11).
  • Finding: the only correct part is the ECI, out today at 8:30: +0.8% q/q, +3.4% y/y, wages +0.7% q/q, in line (BLS; Reuters via Investing.com). An in-line print is not a market mover.
  • Finding (yields): 10y 4.989% prior close → 4.919% at 9:30 → 4.949% at 10:00 → ~4.945% at 10:08 (Yahoo ^TNX, 5-min). Over the same window, HD went $334.20 → $328.88 and XHB $102.74 → $101.17.
  • Open question: the HD/LOW fade did coincide with a ~3bp backup off the yield low, which is more than the draft §2 allowed for (now corrected). But yields are still ~4–5bp lower on the day, and the timing is one 30-minute window. "Yields reaction" is not accepted as the cause; gap-fading (S-083) is the simpler read.

5. whiggity's related names to track: snapshot from Yahoo 5-min bars at ~10:23 ET vs the 10-29 close. These are verified prices; the groupings are whiggity's. None are TRAI candidates today.

  • Consumption cloud (whiggity: shorts): MDB −8.61%, ESTC −5.11%, IOT −1.20%; CFLT delisted (see item 1). Vs seat-based: CRM −0.18%, NOW −2.53%, TEAM −5.21%. TEAM and NOW are not holding up like the cluster-6 names (ADBE/INTU), so whiggity's "seat-based" bucket is mixed.
  • AI capex beneficiaries: NVDA −3.40%, AVGO −5.09%, ANET −7.40%, VRT −4.47%, GEV −3.03%. All are below VWAP. The capex is "held", but the funding/FCF worry is winning today.
  • Satellite D2C vs towers: ASTS −4.32%, GSAT −0.95%, SATS −1.99% vs AMT +1.41%, CCI +0.70%. This is the mirror image of the carrier bid.
  • Housing confirm (for the HD/LOW fade): BLDR +0.94%, DHI −0.40%, LEN +1.18%, SHW +0.11%, TSCO +0.73% (opened +2.54%); XHB +0.13%, ITB +0.50%. Housing has faded its open but is not breaking down, so there's no broad confirmation of the HD/LOW short.
  • Aerospace rotation: GE −2.66% and HWM −0.83% vs BA −0.03%, RTX +0.31%, LMT −0.22%, HON −0.87%, TDG −1.20%. GE is weakest. RTX/LMT faded from +1.6%/+1.0% opens.
  • Unverified opinion (not used): that these are the "right" pairs to trade.

6. whiggity's quant tests: added as S-084 (NEEDS DATA) in strategy.md. All need intraday bars, which TRAI's daily-bar replay lacks.

  • (a) DIA−QQQ > +1.5pp in the first 45 minutes → do names below both their 15-min ORL and VWAP recover less in the afternoon, and do Dow names above their ORH persist more? (It's +2.3pp today.)
  • (b) Cloud SaaS with a ≤ −6% sympathy drop on hyperscaler earnings within 5 days of its own report: is the Friday-close → day-before-report drift positive-Sharpe? (Today's cases: DDOG reports 11-04 BMO, NET 11-05 AMC.)
  • (c) No-news defensive squeezes on month-end Fridays: is the high-to-VWAP drawdown from 10:30 to 13:30 smaller, and is there acceleration into the MOC, vs news-driven moves? (Telecom today vs GILD/LLY.)
  • (d) AAPL beta-adjusted relative strength vs QQQ from 10:15 to 11:00 as a predictor of afternoon QQQ stabilization before a Monday AMC print. At ~10:23, AAPL −0.87% vs QQQ −3.07%.

Net effect on §9: no call changes. The fixes are to wording: AMZN cash flow (§5), the yield path during the HD/LOW fade (§2), the macro calendar (§6), and the Grain 800 MHz deal in the telecom context (§3, telecom note).

11. Unknowns

  • No same-day catalyst found for the telecom move, the ADBE/INTU/WDAY bid, or CSCO's intraday drop; all are treated as factor/sympathy moves.
  • AMZN 2027 capex dollar figure (only "meaningfully more"); telecom's weekly −5.78% (secondary source only).
  • Whether today's telecom bid is short-covering/month-end flow (whiggity's claim; no positioning data, §10 item 3).
  • Which Chicago PMI consensus is right (54.6 Yahoo vs 56.1 WealthBranch).
  • Payrolls date for next week (not checked).
  • Yahoo intraday bars are unofficial and may lag. Everything in §2 is a ~10:13 snapshot and will change.

12. Quote refresh, ~10:23 ET (Yahoo 5-min bars, last bar 14:23 UTC; vs 10-29 close)

  • Indices: SPY −1.55%, QQQ −3.07% (new low of the day), DIA −0.79%, IWM −1.39%. All are below VWAP. DIA−QQQ is +2.3pp. 10y ~4.945% (bar 10:08).
  • Candidates:
  • HD +0.08% and LOW +0.69%: both still below OR30 lows and VWAP; the short condition still holds.
  • GE −2.66%: below its OR30 low (−2.36%), still working.
  • GILD +4.20%: inside OR30.
  • CRM −0.18%: inside OR30, no trigger.
  • CVNA −2.05%: below OR30 low.
  • MO +1.67%: now inside OR30 (low +1.40%), still −0.75% vs VWAP.
  • CMG +2.72% and DASH +1.90%: inside, above VWAP.
  • BA −0.03%: back inside its OR30 (high +0.21%); the 10:13 breakout did not hold.
  • Groups:
  • Telecom: TMUS +5.62%, VZ +2.87%, T +2.61%, CMCSA +3.30%; all at or near their highs and above VWAP.
  • Consumption software worse: DDOG −10.09%, NET −9.04%, SNOW −8.43%.
  • CSCO −4.18%, ANET −7.40%.
  • LLY +4.12%, XLE +1.83%.
  • What changed since 10:13: BA lost its OR breakout, so there is no long_momentum name above its OR high now. MO is back inside its range but below VWAP. Software and semis are extending lower. The HD/LOW and GE short reads are unchanged.
