2026-11-02 11:00 ET: Financials fade-longs bounce with the tape (GS/JPM gap up, HOOD lags its own beta), REGN extends +3.6% on day 2 while XBI falls −2.8%, and REGN's three highest correlates all print within 30 hours (VRTX tonight, PFE/AMGN Tue). Midterms Tue; Treasury borrowing estimate 15:00 ET today

Previous slots: 09:00 today covered oil/OPEC+, PSX, TMUS, CHKP, MAR. 10:00 today covered software day 2 (RBLX, DDOG, APP, TEAM, PLTR, SHOP) and ISM/construction. REGN's Q3 print itself was covered in the 10-30 09:00 report; the bank sell-off's factor decomposition (equity beta, no rate beta) in the 10-30 14:00 report; HOOD's weekend BTC beta in the 10-30 17:00 report §4. This slot does not repeat them. It adds: the sourced cause of each Friday financials drop, what's next for each, day-2 trading, REGN's day-2 drivers and peer-print risk, and the last hour's filings/macro.
1. Focus and why
- Three of ten mean-reversion fade-longs (active) are financials: GS −3.58%, JPM −1.90%, HOOD −7.21% on 10-30 (
/api/latest). GS and JPM are in bank cluster 2 (avg ρ 0.58); HOOD is in crypto cluster 7 (COIN 0.79, MSTR 0.76) but its single highest bank link is GS 0.60. GS–JPM is only 0.49 and JPM–HOOD 0.08 (/api/correlations, asOf 10-30). So this is not one bet; it is two-and-a-half. - REGN is the top long-momentum name (+13.33%, relVol 4.54, residualZ 8.38, rangePos 0.92;
/api/latest) and an earnings-reaction pick (S-100). It is a singleton (cluster 50), but its top correlates VRTX (0.61), PFE (0.60), AMGN (0.48) all report between tonight and Tuesday's close (/api/events). - Macro this week touches both groups: US midterms Tue 11-03; Treasury borrowing estimate today 15:00 ET; refunding Wed 08:30 ET; payrolls Fri 08:30 ET; no November FOMC (StockHub calendar, 2026-11-02).
2. Why each financial fell on Fri 10-30, business drivers, what's next
| Name | Business (short) | Fri 10-30 (TRAI) | Cause (sourced) | Own news? | Next dated catalyst | TRAI last-4 avg abs gap | Cluster (60d) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GS | IB advisory/underwriting, markets (equities, FICC), AWM | −3.58%, relVol 0.95, rangePos 0.55, residualZ −0.38 | Market/AI sell-off (S&P −1.8%); capital-markets-lull worries; CEO Form 4 sale disclosed (10-27) | No company release | Next print 2027-01-19 BMO (TRAI). Sector: Fed capital-rule finalization "by year end" | 2.84% | 2 (MS 0.89) |
| JPM | Universal bank: CCB, CIB, AWM | −1.90%, relVol 1.15, rangePos 0.19, residualZ −1.38 | Sector sell-off; valuation/expense/credit worries (secondary); AI deposit-flight theme | No company release | Next print 2027-01-14 BMO (TRAI). Same capital-rule calendar | 1.31% | 2 (WFC 0.77) |
| HOOD | Retail brokerage, options/crypto/event contracts, net interest, Gold subs | −7.21%, relVol 1.42, rangePos 0.91, beta60 4.24, residualZ +0.09 | Day 4 after a Q3 EPS miss (10-27 AMC) + Binance $6.3B theft hitting crypto; Ohio sports-contract halt | Q3 print (10-27); Ohio agreement (10-26) | October operating data: date not announced (past cadence: ~10th–13th of the following month) | 6.94% | 7 (COIN 0.79) |
Sources: TRAI /api/latest, /api/events, /api/correlations; per-name sources below.
(a) GS: no company news; beta plus a capital-markets narrative
- Closed $894.55 (−3.58%), open $905.10, low $879.50, volume 2.14M (exa daily, 2026-10-30). It led the Dow's early decline: GS −3.2% and CSCO −3.0% made ~193 of a 231-point drop at ~10:00 ET (BORSA, 2026-10-30 10:01 ET).
- Insider selling (secondary, disclosed before Friday): CEO David Solomon sold 12,000 shares on 10-27 at an average $910.72 (~7% of his direct holding); Ericka Leslie sold 250 shares on 10-27/28 (MarketBeat, 2026-10-30). I did not open the Form 4 itself. MarketBeat's headline links the drop to the sale; no other source does, and the timing (filed earlier in the week) makes it a weak explanation for a Friday move. Treat as context, not cause.
- Rejected source: an Aetos.AI item blaming "Donnelley Financial" data on a shrinking backlog also refers to "first-quarter earnings" and is internally inconsistent (Aetos.AI). Not used. TradingKey's write-up (2026-10-30) is generic and cites "elevated Treasury yields", which contradicts Friday's bull-steepening (10y −6bp; 14:00 report §3). Not used.
- Best-supported cause: equity beta on a −1.8% S&P day (GS beta60 1.77,
/api/latest), consistent with the 14:00 report's finding that GS's ~−1pp residual had no identifiable news. - Business backdrop (sourced, already in [GS note](../companies/GS.md)): Q3 EPS $17.01 vs $12.86 consensus, revenue +23% to $18.68B (MarketBeat, above).
- Sector catalyst: the Fed is trying to finalize the Basel III/GSIB-surcharge overhaul "by year end". Bowman's March proposal would cut big-bank capital by ~4.8%. Banks are lobbying for further GSIB-surcharge relief. Independent analysts expect Democrats to win one or both chambers, and banks want Democratic governors' votes so the rules last (Reuters via Investing.com, 2026-10-26; proposal: Reuters, 2026-03-19). No final-rule date found. GS and JPM are GSIBs, so this is a sector event that would hit both at once.
(b) JPM: no company news; the AI-deposit theme
- Closed $337.04 (−1.9%), low $335.12, prior close $343.58, volume ~14% below average (MarketBeat; 2026-10-30). MarketBeat's "why" is generic (expenses, credit, valuation). It's machine-generated, so I'm treating it as weak.
- Theme with sourced numbers: since Meta's Muse agent launched on 9-08, BAC is −18%, SCHW −14%, JPM −5%, WFC −6% (through Wed 10-28), on fears that AI agents will make deposits mobile. Mayo (Wells Fargo) says Q3 showed "no clear evidence" of AI-driven deposit movement; Dimon says JPM is blocking external agents that use shared customer logins (AI In Context, summarizing CNBC, 2026-10-30). Secondary source. The same article mentions a "September interest rate increase", which conflicts with the Fed holding 3.75–4.00% last week (StockHub, above). I didn't resolve the rate-path detail and don't use it.
- JPM's own Q3 (10-13) was a miss: EPS $5.75 vs $5.94, revenue $50.17B vs $51.23B (MarketBeat, above; prior detail in the JPM note). TRAI history: JPM is a low-gap name (avg |gap| 1.31%, fill rate 100%).
(c) HOOD: day 4 of an earnings de-rating, compounded by crypto
- Q3 (10-27 AMC):
- revenue a record $1.42B (+12%)
- GAAP diluted EPS $0.51 (−16% y/y); net income $476M (−14%), $468M attributable to Robinhood. Includes $67M ($0.07/share) unrealized losses, mainly the Robinhood Ventures Fund I mark-to-market
- Adjusted (non-GAAP) EPS $0.60 (−3% y/y), adjusted net income $550M. Robinhood says adjusted EPS is a new non-GAAP measure introduced this quarter, so older consensus series may not line up with it
- transaction revenue $867M (+19%): event contracts $173M (>6×), options $399M (+31%), equities $121M (+41%), crypto $120M (−55%)
- net interest $415M (−9%); securities lending net −$19M vs +$87M a year ago
- net deposits $15.7B (the headline rounds this to "$16 billion")
- crypto notional $50B (−38%), app crypto $21B (−48%)
- Source: Robinhood 8-K ex. 99.1, SEC, 2026-10-27; revenue table: 10-Q R13, SEC.
- Miss or beat? It depends on which EPS line and which consensus (checked against the 8-K ~11:23 ET; see §9, F4):
| Reported EPS (8-K ex. 99.1) | Consensus | Provider / source | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| GAAP diluted $0.51 | $0.55 | LSEG (Reuters via Investing.com, 2026-10-28) | miss −$0.04 |
| GAAP diluted $0.51 | $0.56 | provider not named (OneBullex, 2026-10-27; low-quality aggregator, also calls crypto a "beat") | miss −$0.05 |
| GAAP diluted $0.51 | $0.57 | provider not named (Investing.com, 2026-10-30; AI-assisted, editor-reviewed) | miss −$0.06 |
| Adjusted $0.60 | $0.56 | Zacks (uCapital, relaying Zacks via Yahoo Finance) | beat +$0.04 |
- My read: the widely reported "miss" (Reuters/LSEG) is a GAAP comparison. Against Zacks' consensus, the new adjusted line beat. The stock fell ~8% the next premarket either way (Reuters), so the market traded the GAAP miss, the crypto drop and the withheld opex outlook, not the adjusted beat. Consensus differs by $0.02 across providers, which is normal. Whether each provider's figure was built on a GAAP or adjusted basis is not stated by the secondary sources (open question).
- Management withheld a full-year 2026 total opex outlook, citing credit-loss provisions and regulatory costs, and trimmed the top of the adjusted opex + SBC outlook by $25M to $2.675–2.75B (8-K ex. 99.1).
- Forward data point: the CFO said October net deposits had "already topped $13 billion month-to-date", including $6B from the Dell family's Trump Accounts contribution (8-K ex. 99.1, above). That is the setup for the October metrics release.
- Friday's −7.21% (close $84.99, low $82.00, prior close $91.59; MarketBeat, 2026-10-30) combined three things:
- the continuing print reaction
- the Binance theft (crypto cluster: COIN −10.6% Friday per TRAI)
- Robinhood's agreement (10-26) to stop offering new sports event contracts in Ohio by 11-02 (today). Primary source, verified: the Q3 10-Q says Robinhood Derivatives got a cease-and-desist letter from the Ohio Casino Control Commission on 10-02. On 10-26 it agreed to stop offering new sports-related event contracts in Ohio by 11-02. In return, the Commission won't enforce state gaming laws while the Sixth Circuit and Supreme Court appeals are pending. Robinhood reached a similar agreement with Michigan earlier (HOOD 10-Q, SEC, legal proceedings; also Tiger Brokers/Reuters headline).
- Why it matters: event contracts were the fastest-growing line at $173M in Q3 (>6× y/y), 20% of transaction revenue (8-K ex. 99.1; share is my calc). Ohio's share of that revenue is not disclosed (unknown). So the size of the hit can't be estimated, but the direction is clear: more states could follow the Michigan → Ohio pattern.
- TRAI's residualZ of +0.09 says Friday's move was fully explained by HOOD's beta (4.24), not idiosyncratic.
- October operating data: no date announced. Past non-quarter-end releases: Oct-25 data on 11-13-2025, Nov-25 on 12-10, Jul-26 on 8-12, Aug-26 on 9-10 (TradingCalendar; Aug-26: GlobeNewswire, 2026-09-10). My inference: ~11-10 to 11-13, AMC. Robinhood has also published preliminary month-to-date volumes near month-end (Sept data through 9-24, released 9-28; ad-hoc-news, 2026-09-29). No October preliminary found.
- EDGAR: HOOD's last filings are Form 4s on 10-29 and 10-30, a 40-APP/A on 10-28, and the 8-K/A on 10-28. Nothing filed today (checked ~11:20 ET).
3. Day 2 so far (open → 11:15 ET, Yahoo 5-min, unofficial)
| Name | Gap | Open→now | vs prior close | vs XLF (+1.67%) | OR30 | vs VWAP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GS | +1.64% | +0.19% | +1.83% | +0.16pp | inside (903.00–914.99) | at VWAP (910.53 vs 911.25) |
| JPM | +1.14% | +0.05% | +1.19% | −0.48pp | inside (339.92–342.43) | at VWAP (341.12 vs 341.30) |
| HOOD | +0.66% | +0.81% | +1.47% | −0.20pp | inside (84.90–86.51) | at VWAP (86.16 vs 86.35); day high 87.36 |
| MS / C / WFC / BAC | +1.48 / +0.60 / +1.17 / +0.88% | +0.13 / +0.49 / +0.45 / −0.74% | +1.61 / +1.10 / +1.63 / +0.13% | |||
| SCHW / KRE | +0.81 / +0.72% | +0.46 / +1.66% | +1.27 / +2.40% | |||
| COIN / MSTR / BTC-USD | −2.10 / +1.22 / — | −0.16 / +2.03 / — | −2.26 / +3.27 / −0.66% (since Fri 16:00) | |||
| SPY / QQQ / XLF | +0.49 / +0.69 / +0.76% | +0.17 / −0.06 / +0.90% | +0.67 / +0.63 / +1.67% |
- All three fade-longs gapped up and then went nowhere. Most of their day-2 gain came in the gap, at or above the after-VIX-spike Monday median the financials note logged (GS +0.89%, n 13). Open→now is +0.05% to +0.81%, and each is sitting at VWAP inside its OR30. For a TRAI entry (no entries 09:30–10:00), that means most of the reversion happened before the entry window, on day 2. Same pattern as S-115(c)/S-103 (close→open vs open→close split).
- Financials beat the index: XLF +1.67% vs SPY +0.67%. KRE +2.40% leads, consistent with lower long yields (10y 4.91% at 11:00 vs 4.93% Fri; ^TNX feed; CNBC had 4.884% earlier, 2026-11-02) and oil −4% easing inflation fears (swissinfo/Bloomberg wrap, 2026-11-02). JPM lags XLF and BAC is flat; GS/MS track XLF.
- HOOD is lagging its beta. At beta60 4.24, a +0.67% SPY implies ~+2.8% (my calc, naive). HOOD is at +1.47%. Crypto is split: BTC is −0.66% since Friday 16:00 ET and COIN −2.26%, but MSTR is +3.27%. BTC "stabilized" around $78k; Binance customers withdrew $3.64B (2.1% of assets) after resuming service (CNBC, 2026-11-01/02). HOOD is trading between its bank-beta and crypto-beta legs. With BTC flat to down, the 17:00 report's BTC-gap regression (β 0.40 controlling for QQQ) gives no tailwind.
- No company news today for GS, JPM or HOOD (searched ~11:20 ET). EDGAR today: GS and JPM filed only structured-note 424B2 pricing supplements and FWPs (routine). No 8-K for GS, JPM, HOOD or REGN.
4. REGN: what drove +13.3%, day 2, next catalysts, peer linkage
(a) Friday's driver (own print, 10-30 BMO).
- Q3:
- revenue $5.116B (+36%) vs $4.54B consensus
- non-GAAP EPS $20.07 (+70%) vs $16.06
- Dupixent global sales $6.5B (+35%), US >$5B (+40%)
- EYLEA HD US $699M (+62%)
- Libtayo $550M (+51%)
- Sanofi collaboration profit share $2.575B vs $1.456B, because the Development Balance was fully repaid at end-Q2
- expanded Sanofi deal: $1.0B upfront booked as Q4 collaboration revenue, up to $7.0B milestones. Verified on EDGAR, but not new on 10-30: this is the Sixth Amendment to the antibody collaboration, signed 10-01 and disclosed in an 8-K on 2026-10-06. The four new long-acting antibodies are IL-13, IL-4, IL-4Rα, and an IL-4×IL-13 bispecific. Global profits are split 50/50, and Regeneron has an option on Sanofi's lunsekimig (TSLP×IL-13). Regeneron dropped its Dupixent information-access lawsuit as part of the deal. The same 8-K pre-announced a ~$22M IPR&D charge (−$0.18 EPS) for Q3
- GAAP EPS $18.45 (+35%); non-GAAP net income $2.150B (+67%) (8-K ex. 99.1, SEC)
- FDA approval of Pasatru (garetosmab) for FOP
- Sources: Regeneron newsroom, 2026-10-30; Investing.com transcript, 2026-10-30.
- Guidance: FY26 adjusted gross margin on net product sales raised to ~86% from 84–85% (IBTimes AU, 2026-11-03 AEDT; secondary).
- The trading day:
- close $927.89 (+$109.12), on ~2.9M shares, ~4× the 3-month average
- 52-week high $935.35
- October +~26% vs S&P −~1% (IBTimes, above)
- TRAI's view: gap +6.19% and a further +6.72% from the open; residualZ 8.38, the largest in the universe this run (
/api/latest) - The prior notes covered the print. New this hour: the day-2 setup and the peer calendar.
(b) Day 2 (11:15 ET, Yahoo 5-min, unofficial).
- Gap −0.07% (open $927.22), then +3.71% open→now to $961.64. It broke above Friday's 52-week high (935.35) in the first 30 minutes. OR30 high and day high are both $972.06 (+4.8% vs prior close). Now 1.1% below the high and above VWAP ($955.71).
- Against its sector: XBI −2.44%, IBB −1.54% vs prior close; VRTX +0.17%, LLY −0.88%, AMGN −0.88%, GILD −1.82%. SNY (Sanofi ADR) +1.17%. REGN is up ~+6pp vs XBI (my calc). This is idiosyncratic, not a sector bid.
- Sourced day-2 drivers: analyst price-target raises, published Sunday night through Monday morning.
| Firm | New PT | Old PT | Rating | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guggenheim | $1,100 | $1,030 | Buy | Investing.com, 11-02 04:34 |
| BofA | $1,030 | $908 | Buy | Investing.com, 11-02 05:08 |
| Cantor | $980 | $795 | Overweight | Investing.com, 11-02 09:41 |
| Wells Fargo | $925 | $750 | Equal Weight | Investing.com, 11-02 04:19 |
Notes:
- Cantor and Wells Fargo cite ~$80 and ~$83 of 2027 EPS power respectively, i.e. ~11–12× 2027 earnings at current prices (their calculation).
- Wells Fargo also cites removal of the EYLEA HD post-grant-review overhang.
- TipRanks/The Fly headlines also list RBC ($913, Sector Perform), Truist ($982) and Canaccord ($1,175) (TipRanks; headlines only, not read individually).
- XBI weakness: I found no single cause. Single-name biotech losers appear in search summaries (PGEN, KRYS; Yahoo). LLY is described as profit-taking after its post-print rally (Trefis, 2026-11-02; secondary). Cause unknown.
- EDGAR: three Form 144s (notices of proposed insider sales) were filed for REGN after Friday's close (accepted 2026-10-30 20:14–20:21 UTC = 4:14–4:21 PM ET), after the 8-K/10-Q at 6:50–6:55 AM ET (EDGAR REGN). Opened at ~11:25 ET: director Michael S. Brown, 1,929 shares (~$1.58M, from option exercise); director Kathryn Guarini, 400 shares ($0.36M, option exercise); officer Marion McCourt, 1,132 shares (~$0.98M, RSA vesting). All three are dated 10-30, about $2.9M in total against ~101.6M shares outstanding (144 #1, #2, #3). That is routine post-print liquidity, not a signal. A 144 is a notice, not a sale.

(d) Linkage.
- REGN is a singleton (cluster 50). Top 60d ρ: VRTX 0.61, PFE 0.60, LLY 0.53, GILD 0.52, MRK 0.48, AMGN 0.48, BMY 0.46 (
/api/correlations, asOf 10-30). - Peer correlation hasn't been visible today (REGN +3.6% vs peers −1.8% to +0.2%). These ρ are 60-day daily co-movements, dominated by sector days.
- REGN's own print is done, so the remaining gap risk is peer read-through (Dupixent competitor commentary, IRA/MFN drug-pricing remarks on the PFE/AMGN calls). The size of that read-through is unknown; I have no sourced estimate.
5. Last hour (~10:00–11:15 ET): filings, guidance, macro
- Filings: no 8-K, guidance update or Form 4 found for GS, JPM, HOOD or REGN today. GS and JPM filed only structured-note 424B2s and FWPs (EDGAR, ~11:20 ET).
- Macro releases since 10:00: the 10:00 report covered ISM (55.5) and construction (−1.9%). No further scheduled US release before 15:00 ET, when the Treasury quarterly borrowing estimate lands (StockHub, above). Refunding is Wed 08:30 ET; dealers reportedly expect possible cuts to 20- and 30-year sizes (Moneycontrol, 2026-11-02; headline-level). Banks have ~0 10y beta in 2026 (14:00 report), so this matters more for KRE than for GS/JPM.
- Tuesday: US midterm elections. "Democrats are widely predicted to win the House … the Senate is more in doubt" (CNBC, 2026-11-02). Results arrive overnight Tue→Wed, so Wednesday's open is the gap session, not Tuesday's. JOLTS (Sep) Tue 10:00; ADP Wed 08:15; payrolls Fri 08:30.
- Regime, live: VIX 18.65, VIX9D 18.68 at 11:00 ET (Yahoo 1-min) → ratio 1.002. Still borderline and above 1, which is what keeps the run's stress label (S-102).
/api/regime(10-30 close) is score 4.5 neutral, vixLabel transitional, trend choppy. - Macro (TRAI `/api/macro`, asOf 10-30): 10y 4.94% (−35bp/1m), 2y 4.56%, 10y−2y +0.38pp, 10y−3m +0.78pp; HYG/IEF −2.07 pts over 1m (credit underperforming); XLV among the 20-day leaders (+13.1% vs SPY).
6. Replay context (my calcs from /api/scorecard replayTrades, 05-01 → 10-29, next-day open→close)
- Method: next-day o→c minus TRAI's per-trade impact minus 5bp cost; t-stat = mean / (sd/√n). Survivorship and regime caveats as in prior reports.
| Subset | n | Mean | Median | Hit | t |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MR fade-long, all | 225 | +0.11% | +0.07% | 53% | 0.80 |
| MR fade-long, Financials | 29 | +0.42% | +0.41% | 62% | 1.24 |
| MR fade-long, stress-label days | 35 | +0.37% | +0.55% | 54% | 0.89 |
| LM, Healthcare | 48 | −0.40% | −0.21% | 46% | −0.93 |
LM on own earnings-reaction day (/api/events reactionDate) | 48 | +0.24% | +0.33% | 58% | 0.59 |
| LM, non-earnings | 330 | +0.11% | −0.04% | 49% | 0.66 |
- Per-name history:
- GS fade-longs: −0.74% (06-05), −0.81% (09-14)
- JPM: +0.95% (07-29)
- HOOD: −0.41% (07-16), +6.73% (10-14)
- REGN LM: +4.95% (07-30, also an earnings day), −1.46% (08-10)
- S-100 doesn't replicate on this window. Gross, earnings-reaction LM is +0.38% (n 48, hit 58%) vs +0.25% for non-earnings (n 330). S-100 reported −0.42% vs +0.27% on 04-23 → 10-21. The difference is likely the window and the rolling last-4-events set in
/api/events, which changes which days count as reaction days. Either way, neither number is significant. → S-121(b). - None of these subsets clears t 2. The financials fade-long subset is the best of the three MR cuts, but n 29.
7. Strategy implications / proposals (research, not advice)
- GS/JPM/HOOD (MR fade-long, active):
- Day-2 reversion came mostly in the gap: +1.1% to +1.6% for GS/JPM. After 10:00, all three sit at VWAP inside OR30. On today's tape the incremental edge after TRAI's entry window is small.
- TRAI is flat by 15:55, so tonight's VRTX/AAPL/PLTR prints and Tuesday's midterms carry no overnight exposure for these intraday trades.
- GS/JPM have no company catalyst before January. HOOD's next own catalyst (October metrics) is undated, likely ~11-10/13.
- Sizing: GS–JPM ρ 0.49, JPM–HOOD 0.08. Per S-114 these are not one cluster bet. GS+HOOD (0.60) are closer to one bet than GS+JPM.
- REGN (LM, earnings-reaction pick):
- It is trading as the strongest version of continuation: new highs on analyst PT raises, +6pp vs XBI.
- The next-day risk is peer prints. VRTX tonight and PFE Tue BMO land in the next premarket run (Tue 8:45). If REGN re-qualifies as LM tomorrow, PFE's print will be known before the open (BMO); AMGN's (Tue AMC) won't be until Wednesday.
- Proposals added to [strategy.md](../strategy.md):
- S-121 (proposal): "gap-captured reversion" flag. For each fade-long, record the share of the expected reversion already captured at 10:00. Test whether post-10:00 o→c is still positive. Also re-run S-100 on the current replay window (part b).
- S-122 (proposal): peer-print flag for singleton LM names. If ≥ 2 of a name's top-3 ρ peers report within 2 sessions, tag the candidate
peerPrintRiskon the dashboard (REGN today: VRTX, PFE, AMGN). - S-123 (needs data): HOOD intraday beta split. Decompose HOOD's day-2 move into SPY/XLF beta and BTC/COIN beta. Test whether the crypto leg predicts the post-10:00 path for MR fade-longs in cluster 7 (feeds S-115(b)).
8. Questions for quant testing
- Gap-captured reversion (S-121): for MR fade-longs, condition next-day 10:00→15:55 return on the ratio (09:30 gap) / (prior-day move). Is the post-10:00 edge zero when the gap already recovered ≥ 40% of the drop (GS today: +1.64% / −3.58% ≈ 46%; JPM ~60%; HOOD ~9%)? Data: Yahoo 5-min, replayTrades dates.
- Singleton LM with peer prints (S-122): for LM names whose top-3 ρ peers report within 2 sessions, compare next-day o→c and the day-2 → day-3 gap with LM names without peer prints. Data:
/api/eventshistory +/api/correlations(rolling, not today's snapshot, to avoid look-ahead). - Analyst-PT-raise day 2: do earnings-reaction LM names that get ≥ 3 PT raises before day-2's open continue on day 2 more than those that don't? Needs a dated analyst-action feed (not in TRAI). Today: REGN +3.7% o→now with ≥ 4 raises.
- HOOD vs BTC on MR days (S-123): in HOOD fade-long signals, regress day-2 o→c on BTC's 09:30→15:55 return and on SPY's. Does BTC explain more than beta 4.24 × SPY?
- Midterm overnight gap (financials and healthcare): historical Wednesday-after-midterm gaps (2010, 2014, 2018, 2022) for XLF, KRE, XLV, XBI, GS, JPM. n 4, so the result is descriptive only.
- Post-earnings drift vs fade (Auditor-style; from whiggity's handoff): for earnings-driven MR fade-longs (HOOD: day 4 after a GAAP miss) and LM continuation names (REGN: day 2 after a beat), what are day-2 to day-5 returns in the replay? Does post-earnings-announcement drift in the direction of the surprise beat the fade? If drift dominates, HOOD's fade-long is fighting drift and REGN's LM is riding it. Needs a fixed earnings-date list and a surprise sign (GAAP vs adjusted, see §2(c)).
- REGN vs XBI peer read-through (yoo-style test; from whiggity's handoff): after large-cap biotech prints, regress the printer's day-2/3 return on XBI's and on the next peer print's reaction (VRTX tonight, PFE/AMGN Tue). Does the peer print move REGN, or does REGN stay decoupled (today ~+6pp vs XBI)? Extends S-122.
- Midterm + refunding as invalidators (Auditor): do event days with binary macro (midterms Tue, refunding Wed 08:30) cut the next-day edge of MR fade-longs in financials? Same n-4 caveat as Q5. Flat-by-15:55 means no overnight exposure, but the signal days themselves are affected.
- S-100 replication: re-run the earnings-reaction vs non-earnings LM split on a fixed event-date list (not
/api/events' rolling last 4) across both replay windows.
9. Research partner (whiggity) consult
- What: Kieran's Monica research bot whiggity was consulted in a new Monica chat at ~11:17–11:21 ET (chat). I treated it as a second researcher, not as a source of truth. A point stays in only if I could check it against a cited public source, preferably a primary one. Points marked [W] came from whiggity. Verification was done ~11:22–11:28 ET.
| # | whiggity point [W] | My check | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| F1 | HOOD Q3 revenue $1,424M (vs $1,274M), net income $468M | 8-K ex. 99.1: $1,424M / $1,274M. $468M is net income attributable to Robinhood; total net income is $476M | Verified (clarified) → §2(c) |
| F2 | Transaction revenue $867M (+19%), event contracts $173M (>6×), equities $121M (+41%) | Same 8-K, exact match | Verified → §2(c); event contracts linked to Ohio |
| F3 | Crypto transaction revenue $120M | Same 8-K: $120M, −55% | Verified (already in draft) |
| F4 | EPS conflict: $0.51 vs $0.56 (OneBullex); adjusted $0.60 vs $0.56 (uCapital) vs our $0.51 vs $0.55 | 8-K: GAAP diluted $0.51; adjusted (new non-GAAP) $0.60. Consensus: LSEG $0.55 (Reuters), unnamed $0.56 (OneBullex), unnamed $0.57 (Investing.com), Zacks $0.56 (uCapital/Yahoo). OneBullex is low quality: no provider named, and it calls crypto a "beat" | Resolved: all three are "right" on different bases. GAAP missed and adjusted beat Zacks. Table in §2(c); HOOD note fixed |
| F5 | −55% crypto revenue: only found a Facebook post | Our draft already cites the SEC 8-K ex. 99.1, which states −55%; Reuters agrees | Our claim is primary-cited; whiggity's gap is a search-tool limit |
| F6 | CFO October deposits >$13B incl. $6B Dell/Trump Accounts; Ohio halt: no URL found | CFO Shiv Verma's quote is in the 8-K ex. 99.1 (verified verbatim). Ohio: our draft cited headline-level Law360/Tiger. Upgraded to the HOOD 10-Q legal-proceedings text (C&D 10-02, agreement 10-26, stop by 11-02) | Both now primary-cited |
| F7/F8 | REGN Q3 BMO 10-30: revenue $5.116B (+36%), non-GAAP EPS $20.07 (vs $11.83, +70%), non-GAAP NI $2.150B; expanded Sanofi antibody alliance | REGN 8-K ex. 99.1: all match. Alliance = Sixth Amendment, signed 10-01, disclosed in the [10-06 8-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/872589/000110465926113895/tm2627077d1_8k.htm) ($1.0B upfront, ≤$7.0B milestones, four IL-4/IL-13-pathway antibodies, 50/50 profits) | Verified, added to §4(a). Correction: it was not new news on 10-30, so it doesn't explain Friday's +13% beyond the Q4 revenue recognition |
| — | whiggity's secondary URLs (marketscreener, investing.com ZA/CA, crypto-reporter, ad-hoc-news) | Not used as sources; the primary filings supersede them | Not needed |
| — | Didn't search GS/JPM, VRTX/PFE/AMGN dates, or the Treasury schedule | Our §2, §4(c), §5 cite these (EDGAR, Vertex IR, /api/events, StockHub). PFE/AMGN dates rest on /api/events + StockHub only (no company IR opened) | Open: confirm PFE/AMGN times on company IR |
- Handoffs whiggity proposed [W]: (1) the Scout should verify forward dates; (2) the Auditor should ask whether HOOD/REGN post-earnings drift and midterm/refunding risk invalidate the fade setups; (3) yoo should design tests for financials MR vs biotech post-earnings continuation, including REGN vs XBI. Added as §8 Q6–Q8.
- Rejected: nothing whiggity said was false. The OneBullex consensus framing is downgraded (no provider named, internally odd), not rejected outright.
- Did it change the call? No. The consensus resolution actually sharpens the HOOD read: the market sold a GAAP miss, a −55% crypto line and an opex-outlook gap, and the Ohio halt takes effect today. None of that is a new dated catalyst before HOOD's undated October metrics. The Sanofi alliance was already public on 10-06, and the REGN 144s total ~$2.9M. So these remain not actionable for today, as in §7.
10. Open questions / unknowns
- Exact date of HOOD's October operating-data release (not announced; inferred ~11-10/13).
- ~~Filers and sizes of REGN's three Form 144s~~: resolved §4(b) (~$2.9M total, two directors and one officer).
- Whether LSEG/Zacks/other HOOD consensus figures ($0.55/$0.56/$0.57) were built on GAAP or the newly introduced adjusted EPS (§2(c)). Not stated by the secondary sources.
- Ohio's share of HOOD's $173M event-contracts revenue (not disclosed).
- Exact cemdisiran PDUFA day (company says "November"; 11-30 per third-party calendars only).
- Cause of XBI −2.4% today (no single source).
- Whether the Fed's capital final rule lands before or after a possible change in House control (no date).
- The ^TNX feed lags (last bar 11:00 ET), so the 10y move since the open is approximate.
